Michaela taking a lunch break on our way down to Ruzembork, a few guys doing what they do best next to the train stations, make sure to notice the vodka shot glasses next to almost everyones beer. And if you look real good at these people at these types of places, you start to think that they are for sure there each and everyday. The Mikalaus lake is something that you should definitely camp out at for a night. The swimming there is some of the best we found, infact the only true swimming we found, real clean nice lake with great scenery all around.
Camping at Lake Michalaus... in Slovak Republic. Great swimming, great weather as you can see, the day sure did not start out sunny and warm. And then of course the next day, as you can see in the far right photo, it started to rain hard during our morning coffee/potraviny break in Mikalaus... so we waited it out for about an hour.
On left is where Michaela and I stopped for lunch, for some reason there was a nice bench just off the road on our great day riding just south of the High Tatra mountains you see in the middle, and then of course there are my new best friends from Vazec. These guys allowed Michaeal and I to stay in the guy on the lefts dead moms house for the night...
Of course there was a small fee involved, just enough for them to buy a bottle of Vodka, that I suspect was purchased within minutes of us handing over the money. Terribly drunk, and the home was rather creepy. no toilet besides the outhouse, and no shower either, that was somewhat of a problem, was happy to wake up and leave this one.
In fact, when it was time to use the restroom, I for sure decided to walk back to the one place in the village that had one, a small cafe. It was well worth buying a drink I didnt need just to use a proper bathroom.
The next day, for some reason... we decided to head back to Czech. We took train too, and I thought it a good idea to celebrate making it through the night with a bottle of champagne and OJ. It was just what we needed on our trip to Ostrava.
Ostrava is in the far East of CZ. A major coal and steel town. We visited Vicovice, the steel factory, and took a guided tour with some others. It was pretty interesting because the "English Tour" to me seemed to be all in Czech. Strange how that happens, but the sights were interesting enough, and got some good shots of Michaela in the sun...
In Ostrava, we stayed for three nights, it was pretty fun in my opinion, especially the Studeni Street with all the nightlife, nothing like that back in the States for sure, Pearl Street compares but is not even close. Also, included below is a small hotel shot of the common scene.
The picture on the left bellow is a small business. Michaela said that he words pretty much mean "Bring us your fruit, and we will make Vodka out of it.???" Next picture is of a BBQ scene from the campgound at Fulnek. Pretty cool, we bought some stuff at the store, the old man there gave us wood and told us to go at it. Pretty tasty too.
