The Weekend of October 6-7th Michaela and I went to Horka, about 82 km train ride form Prague to visit her friend Katka.  Katka lives in Prague, but her family is from Horka, and some of her family still lives in Horka(her grandma, grandpa, father etc...)  Horka has about a 200 person population, complete with a nice pub restaurant which we visited right away for lunch on saturday.  Also, the city of Kutna Hora with about 20,000 inhabitants is about ten km away as well.  We went there for Saturday night for some walking around the town, we also met David from Brazil there.  He works at the PM factory in Kutna and was a really nice guy, I am sure we will meet up with him again.  Katka´s family has an apple orchard, so they sell aples, some of the best as well.  They have golden delicious, as well as some others, along with about twelve chickens and a nice garden with some other veggies growing.  And of course her grandma makes an awesome Sunday lunch of dumplings, goulash, etc... It was a great weekend, I hope to be invited back for more.   After trying to grow some peppers, its clear that her family knows what they are doing.

The three photos above are actually from the Main Train Station in Prague, Hlavni Nadrazi, there is a pretty interesting cafe abovce which has the old dome with crazy are above, great ten minute coffee stop if you can spare the time while waiting for the train.  Below is a shot of Katka and I going in circles, and to the right a great photo of the cathedral of Kutna Hora at night.  Then Michaela and I at a local bar
Below on left is Katka, David and me.  David came a bit later, but that was fine, we did some story telling, and David promised to have us over to his place for a traditional Brazilian drink, he is headed back there in a week to visit his family and he said he would bring a bottle of some special spirit, cant wait for that... a bit scared though... then Michaela with Sunday breakfast
On Sunday, we went to visit some wild animals, white deer, and pigs at a local park which is next to the grammar school Katka went to as a kid.  As you can see, the leaves are starting to turn color, and fall off the trees.  It should really be going strong in a week or two.
Nice shot of a small river that runs through the area.  The deer, no pictures unfortunately live on a 240 acre preserve, and we watched them run together across the river, pretty nice scene, an old man does some tricks to get them moving for the crowd.  Afterwards, we stopped to buy some med, aka honey.  The famrers had some turkeys in the yard and we got a quick photo.
Another turkey photo from the honey farmers house.  Next is Katka in her back yard next to the peppers.  She picked some red ones and gave them to us to bring back to Prague.  She also gave us some great apples.  Put your mouse on the photo to the right.  It is of me feeding the chickens..........
Some more pepper shots.  It was a nice Sunday, nice sun, still pretty cold outside, but great to be in the sun away from the big city.  It had been over a month since I left Prague.
Here is a town shot, and a photo from inside the barn where there are some walnuts drying, and a photo of the old tractor.  Pretty sure it works when needed, but not for sure.  Then you can see where the chickens live.  Katka made me some scrambled eggs in the morning from some of them.  They were excellent, reminded me of US food.

Check out those crates of walnuts next to the old tractor in the barn.  I didnt remember seeing too many walnut trees on the property, so maybe her grandparents have been out late at night snagging walnuts from the neighbors.
